Two young sisters, Hillary, 19, and Addyson, 15, are facing an incredibly difficult future after losing both of their parents within just 10 months. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to help the sisters and their extended family manage immediate expenses and create a stable home environment as they adjust to life without their parents.

The fundraiser, titled “Helping Two Sisters Find a New Beginning ❤️,” was organized by Michelle Mellen on behalf of Christina Haining. It aims to raise $50,000 CAD to support the sisters during this challenging transition.

According to the fundraiser, the girls have been welcomed into the home of their aunt Chrissy and uncle Shayne. The couple has opened their doors to the sisters, bringing them into a household that also includes their young child and a newborn baby.

Although the family is grateful for the support they have received from relatives, friends and members of the community, welcoming two additional family members has created immediate financial and practical challenges.

Fundraiser Aims to Provide Stability for the Sisters

The GoFundMe campaign explains that the donations will help cover several important expenses as Hillary and Addyson begin rebuilding their lives.

One major priority is covering legal fees and other transitional expenses following the loss of their parents. The family also needs to make changes to its home to ensure the sisters have enough privacy and personal space.

According to the fundraiser, the existing home does not have sufficient room for everyone. Chrissy and Shayne are planning to renovate part of their unfinished basement to create a private living area for the girls.

The funds will also help with everyday necessities, including food, clothing, school supplies and other general living expenses.

The fundraiser notes that the sisters may receive financial support through their parents’ estate in the future. However, those resources do not address the immediate costs associated with their new living arrangements and the adjustments facing the family.

The goal is to provide Hillary and Addyson with a safe and supportive environment where they can experience some normalcy despite the significant changes in their lives.

Community Members Rally Around Hillary and Addyson

The fundraiser has also received attention through social media, with friends and community members encouraging others to contribute or share the campaign.

Jeffrey White shared an emotional message remembering Heather Haining Handy, describing her as a cherished friend and recalling fond memories of the Handy family during his childhood and time spent in Muskoka.

White also noted that Heather’s passing in a tragic automobile accident came only months after her husband died following an illness. He encouraged people to support their two daughters during this difficult period.

Another message shared by Laura Sabo expressed prayers and support for Hillary, Addyson and the entire Haining/Handy family. The message remembered Heather and Shawn as selfless people and highlighted the importance of standing beside the girls and their relatives.

The GoFundMe campaign had raised $21,092 CAD toward its $50,000 goal, with 161 donations listed at the time of the provided fundraiser information.

People who cannot contribute financially are also encouraged to share the fundraiser to help it reach a wider audience.

For Hillary and Addyson, the support represents more than financial assistance. It is an effort by family, friends and community members to help two young sisters find stability, security and a fresh beginning after an unimaginable loss.
