Edmonton Oilers Hometown Remix Jersey Revealed in Black and Orange

The Edmonton Oilers Hometown Remix jersey was unveiled on November 2, 2026, introducing a black uniform with orange and grey accents. Edmonton released the design alongside the NHL and Fanatics as part of a collection covering all 32 teams.

The reveal follows weeks of teasers and photographs of players practising in matching equipment. It also confirms a departure from the blue that has long been central to Edmonton’s identity, giving supporters their first official look at the complete uniform.

Black Design Reflects Edmonton’s Oil Identity

The new sweater keeps the familiar Oilers crest but changes its colours. Black replaces the usual blue, while orange and grey outlines make the lettering stand out against the dark fabric. The Hockey News described it as the first black jersey in franchise history.

The NHL links Edmonton’s design to oil and the city’s working identity. Traditional stripes frame the darker crest, with bright orange providing the strongest contrast. Shoulder patches are intended to acknowledge the people and place behind the team.

That approach gives the jersey a clear connection to the Oilers name without discarding the club’s recognisable logo. The main change is the palette, which makes the familiar crest look markedly different.

Earlier photographs from practice had already offered clues. Players wore black gloves and pants bearing the recoloured logo, replacing equipment featuring the team’s usual blue. Those details pointed towards the darker uniform before the full jersey was announced.

Teasers Led Into the Official Reveal

Edmonton built anticipation with an October teaser that translated to “Oil Country After Midnight.” The message appeared alongside black fabric, reinforcing expectations that the club would move away from its traditional colours for this release. The slogan matched the colour direction that had already appeared in practice photographs.

Unofficial images also circulated before launch. A batch of purported Hometown Remix designs included Edmonton’s black sweater, although those early renderings were not the final confirmation of its appearance. Monday’s announcement provides the official reference for fans comparing those previews with the released jersey.

The collection represents Fanatics’ first uniform programme of this scale for the NHL since it became the league’s uniform supplier in 2024. According to Fast Company, designers worked with individual clubs through workshops to develop looks connected to their communities.

That process allowed teams to take different directions. Across the collection, colours, lettering and local references were chosen to give each market its own design, rather than applying one shared appearance throughout the league.

First Game and Jersey Availability

The Oilers say they will wear the Hometown Remix uniform seven times during the 2026 to 2027 season. Its scheduled debut is November 5 against the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Place.

The launch extends beyond Edmonton. Sportsnet reported that Hometown Remix uniforms are scheduled to appear in 261 games across the league, including 19 matchups featuring both teams in their special uniforms.

Florida, San Jose and Chicago were scheduled to begin wearing their new looks on November 2. Edmonton’s first appearance follows later in the same week, giving fans a chance to see how the black and orange combination looks during a game.

For supporters looking to buy the Edmonton Oilers Hometown Remix jersey, the team announced availability through Ice District Authentics. The release also includes apparel and headwear, giving fans options beyond the sweater itself.
